the technology inside smart3®
Most supplements put ingredients in a pill. FoodBIOME® builds them into food for your oral and gut microbiome.
FoodBIOME® is a patent-pending structured matrix of lipids, antioxidants and biotics, designed so that the food itself does part of the work. It’s the foundation of every Smart3® product, and it’s why taking Smart3® feels like a treat rather than a task.
the BASICS
Binders, bulking agents and flow aids, often a white powder. They’re there for the pill, not for you.
A structured base of healthy fats holds the formula together and carries it through digestion.
They help protect the formula’s ingredients and support your body’s everyday defenses.*
They give the beneficial microbes in your gut something to work with.*
Active ingredients
Your microbiome doesn’t start in your gut. It starts in your mouth. FoodBIOME® is designed to work along the whole route.
Every supplement needs a carrier to get its active ingredients into your body. In a capsule, that’s a shell and filler. In a liposomal gel, it’s tiny bubbles of phospholipids wrapped around each ingredient. FoodBIOME® takes a different approach: the carrier is a food. Its lipids, antioxidants and biotics hold the formula together and carry it through digestion, and they’re part of what you’re eating, with benefits of their own.* That’s what “Powered by FoodBIOME®” means on every Smart3® product.
FoodBIOME® doesn’t just pass through. It stays in the mouth longer instead of being swallowed in a second, and mixes with saliva.
It reaches the 700+ species of microbes in the mouth, so the mouth is the first place it meets your microbiome. Then it carries on.
FoodBIOME® travels as food, not as a pill. Its lipid structure is designed to hold the formula together and carry it through your stomach.
Along the way, its antioxidants help protect the formula’s ingredients. Then it moves on to your gut.
The biotics and antioxidants arrive in your gut, home to most of your microbiome. There, the biotics give your beneficial microbes something to work with.
Together, they’re designed to support a balanced gut microbiome.*
The FoodBIOME® platform has been explored through pilot research evaluating oral and gut microbiome related outcomes to study oral-first, gut-second supporting benefits from a single serving.
This simple difference reflects a new way of thinking about food, not just as nutrition, but as an intentional daily experience.

How IT's MADE
Many supplement brands design a label and outsource the rest. We do it all ourselves: research, formulation, manufacturing and testing happen in the same facility, by the same team.
Our facility does not handle any of the nine major food allergens identified by the FDA: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame. They aren’t in our formulas, and they never come through our doors, so there’s no shared equipment with allergen-containing products.
One facility · One team
Our own R&D team created FoodBIOME® and keeps refining it in-house.
Every Smart3® formula is built on the same FoodBIOME® composition.
In our own GMP-compliant facility. Nothing is handed to a contract manufacturer.
Every batch comes with a Certificate of Analysis, verified by independent labs.
What that means for you: the FoodBIOME® composition that was studied, made the same way every time.
It can be both. FoodBIOME® is the common base that every Smart3® product is built on: each formula adds its own active ingredients to it.
But its flavor and texture make it a great finished product on its own. You asked, we listened: Naked Nature® is FoodBIOME® to enjoy just as it is.
Your microbiome is the community of microbes, mostly bacteria, that live in and on your body. The oral microbiome lives in your mouth, and the gut microbiome lives in your digestive tract.
The two are connected: everything you eat passes through your mouth on its way to your gut. Researchers call this link the oral–gut axis.
Because you chew FoodBIOME® as food instead of swallowing a capsule, it meets your oral microbiome from the very first bite. It then continues to your gut, where its biotics give your beneficial microbes something to work with.*
In two human pilot studies, FoodBIOME® supported oral microbiome balance and gut microbiome modulation.* See what the studies found.
No. Liposomes are phospholipid bubbles that carry an ingredient. FoodBIOME® is a structured food in which the lipids, antioxidants and biotics are all part of the formula.
“Biotics” is the umbrella term for the ingredients that support the microbes living in your body, especially in your gut. There are three main kinds:
The biotics in FoodBIOME® give the beneficial microbes in your gut something to work with.*
The FoodBIOME® composition is patent-pending.
It means the product is built on FoodBIOME®, a patent-pending food base made of lipids, antioxidants and biotics. Instead of packing active ingredients into a capsule with filler, each Smart3® product adds its active ingredients to FoodBIOME®.
You get the benefits of FoodBIOME® itself,* plus those of the active ingredients, in a food you enjoy. FoodBIOME® is developed, made and tested in our own facility, and it’s the same composition that was evaluated in two human pilot studies.
